Bosses & Boss Arena

Group PvE against Roman titans — open-world bosses and the wave-based Boss Arena leaderboard.

Bosses are Imperium's PvE endgame — high-health Roman titans that require a group to bring down and drop premium loot when they fall. There are two distinct flavors: open-world world bosses that spawn at fixed locations (and no longer auto-spawn, so staff summon them on demand), and the instanced Boss Arena, a wave-based survival challenge with a live damage leaderboard. Both are the best source of rare crafting materials, exclusive cosmetics, and large Denarius payouts.

World Bosses

World bosses are configured in bosses.yml with a unique ID, a display name, a custom mob type, scaled health and damage, and a per-boss loot table. They used to auto-spawn on a timer, but that behavior has been retired — now a staff member must run /boss spawn <id> to summon one. This gives staff control over when the server gangs up on a boss, so fights happen when players are actually online to enjoy them.

World bosses are configured with boss_mechanics.yml, which lets staff define phased behavior — enrage timers, add spawns, AoE slams, and immunity windows. Each boss is essentially a mini-raid, so don't expect to solo one unless you dramatically out-gear it.

Damage to a world boss is tracked per player, and the loot is typically distributed by contribution — top damage gets first pick, with the rest split among contributors. The exact distribution model is configurable, but the default rewards the players who actually showed up and fought.

The Boss Arena

The Boss Arena is a separate, instanced wave-based challenge. Players /bossarena join to enter the queue, and once enough participants are ready, one of them runs /bossarena start to kick off the sequence. Waves of mobs and mini-bosses spawn in escalating difficulty, and the arena tracks damage dealt by every participant.

Tips

  1. Bring a party. Bosses scale for groups; a solo player will struggle even with endgame gear. Use the Party system to coordinate.
  2. Stack combat enchants. The PVP kit and combat-enchanted netherite are the right tools for boss damage — mining gear won't cut it.
  3. Watch the mechanics. Phased bosses telegraph big attacks — back off during immunity windows and burst during damage phases.
  4. In the Arena, survive over greed. A dead player deals zero damage; staying alive through wave 10 beats dying on wave 5 trying to top the meter.
  5. Track the leaderboard live. Knowing whether you're in the top-3 damage bracket tells you whether to play safe or push for a better chest.
  6. Loot the body fast. World boss loot windows can be contested — have your legion hold the area while the top contributor claims.
