Lucky Blocks
Place and break mystery sponge blocks for weighted-random cash, tokens, Civitas, or a free rank-up.
Lucky Blocks are mystery sponge blocks you place and break for a random reward. Each block draws from a weighted pool of possible payouts — cash, tokens, Civitas, or even a free rank-up — so every break is a gamble. They come in tiers, with rarer blocks holding dramatically better loot. Lucky blocks are typically earned as rewards from crates, events, vote milestones, or admin giveaways, and they are one of the most satisfying ways to turn a small prize into a big one.
How Lucky Blocks Work
A lucky block is a special sponge item with a hidden type tag. The flow is simple:
- Obtain a lucky block item (from a crate, event, or
/luckyblock giveif you are staff). - Place it in the world like any block. It settles as a sponge with its type remembered.
- Break it. The block vanishes, a reward is rolled from the type's pool, and your prize is paid out instantly.
When you break one, you get a confirmation message ("Lucky Block! You won: <reward>"), a level-up chime, and a burst of happy-villager particles around you. The block itself is consumed — you cannot reuse a lucky block.
Lucky blocks persist across server restarts. If you place one and the server restarts before you break it, the block is still there when you come back — its location and type are saved to disk on shutdown and restored on startup. You never lose a placed block to a reboot.
Block Types & Reward Pools
Each lucky block type has its own weighted reward pool. The weight is the relative chance of each outcome — higher weight means more common. The two default types shipped with Imperium are Common and Rare, but staff can add custom types and pools via luckyblocks.yml.
Common Lucky Block
The baseline block. Mostly small cash and tokens, with a small chance of nothing at all. A reliable but modest payout.
| Reward | Chance (weight) | Payout |
|---|---|---|
| Small Cash Prize | 60% | $5,000 Denarius |
| Token Reward | 30% | 100 Auctoritas |
| Nothing | 10% | A lesson in humility |
Rare Lucky Block
The premium block. Big cash, Civitas, or a free rank-up — no "nothing" outcome, so every break pays. The rank-up reward is especially valuable: it runs the rank-up command on your behalf, advancing you a full rank for free.
| Reward | Chance (weight) | Payout |
|---|---|---|
| Big Cash Prize | 40% | $50,000 Denarius |
| Beacon Reward | 30% | 5 Civitas |
| Free Rank Up | 30% | Instant rank-up (console command) |
Reward pools are fully configurable by staff. New types can be added, weights rebalanced, and custom command rewards (like giving a specific item, pet, or cosmetic) dropped in. The /luckyblock types command shows the live list of available types on your server.
How Rewards Pay Out
A lucky block reward can pay out in four ways, all of which fire instantly on break:
- Money — Denarius credited directly to your balance.
- Tokens — Auctoritas credited directly.
- Beacons — Civitas credited directly.
- Command — A console command run on your behalf (e.g. a free rank-up, an item grant, a cosmetic unlock).
A single reward can combine multiple payouts, but the default pools are tuned so each roll is one clean outcome. The weighted-random selection ensures the stated percentages hold over many breaks, so a Common block really does pay small cash about 60% of the time.
Getting Lucky Blocks
Lucky blocks are not craftable — they are rewards. The most common sources are:
- Crates — many crate tiers can roll lucky blocks as a prize.
- Vote milestones & Vote Parties — community voting rewards often include lucky blocks.
- Festivals & events — holiday events and admin-run activities frequently hand them out.
- Admin giveaways — staff can grant lucky blocks directly with
/luckyblock give.
Because they are rewarded rather than bought, lucky blocks tend to be saved for a rainy day or stacked for a batch break. Hoarding a stack of Rare blocks for a ranked push or a prestige attempt is a legitimate strategy.
Commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/luckyblock types | List every available lucky block type and its display name. |
/luckyblock give <player> <type> [amount] | Admin-only: give a player one or more lucky blocks of the specified type. |
/luckyblock help | Show the lucky block command reference. |
Tips
- Save Rare blocks for rank-ups. A free rank from a Rare block can be worth hundreds of thousands of Denarius — break it when you are close to a rank boundary.
- Break Common blocks in batches. With a 60% cash rate, breaking a stack smooths out the variance and guarantees a steady payout.
- Place before you break. Lucky blocks must be placed in the world to activate — you cannot open them from your inventory.
- Break them where you stand. The reward pays to you regardless of location, so there is no need to travel — break them right where you get them.
- Check /luckyblock types. If staff have added custom types, this lists them along with their display names so you know what you are holding.
- Reboots are safe. A placed block survives a server restart, so you do not need to rush — but remember where you put it.
- Stack with a money booster. Cash payouts from lucky blocks benefit from active money boosters, so break a hoard while boosted for a bigger return.
