Progression

Mastery

Fifteen long-game ladders, each with five tiers and a Grandmaster broadcast — plus permanent passive bonuses.

Mastery is the long-game progression layer that sits on top of everything else you do in Imperium. Every block you break, every Denarius you earn, every enchant you upgrade, every prestige you reach feeds into one of fifteen mastery categories. Each category has five tiers — Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert, Master, and Grandmaster — and every tier you cross pays out Denarius, Auctoritas, and a permanent passive bonus. Hit Tier 5 in a category and the whole server hears about it: you have made Grandmaster.

What Mastery Tracks

Mastery is not a single bar. It is fifteen independent ladders, one per category. Your mining mastery only goes up when you mine; your economy mastery only when you earn. This means mastery naturally rewards specialists and completionists alike — a pure miner will hit Grandmaster Mining fast, while a well-rounded citizen climbs many ladders at once.

Note the Endgame category: it tracks prestiges just like the Prestige category, but with higher thresholds (up to 60). It exists to give the longest-tenured citizens a ladder that keeps scaling well past Prestige 50.

The Five Tiers & Their Rewards

Every category uses the same five-tier ladder with the same reward curve. Cross a threshold and the reward pays out automatically — there is nothing to claim. You will see a gold MASTERY TIER! title flash on screen, hear a level-up chime (or, for Grandmaster, the rare challenge-complete fanfare), and the money and tokens land in your balance.

TierRank NameDenariusAuctoritasPermanent Passive
Tier 1Apprentice$10,000500+0.5%
Tier 2Journeyman$50,0002,000+1.0%
Tier 3Expert$200,0008,000+2.0%
Tier 4Master$500,00025,000+3.0%
Tier 5Grandmaster$1,000,000100,000+5.0%

The passive bonus is the real prize. It stacks permanently on top of your other multipliers (prestige multipliers, boosters, legion upgrades, pets) for the relevant category. A Grandmaster in every category would bank a hefty permanent edge on mining output, token gains, and more — and it never expires.

The Grandmaster Broadcast

Hitting Tier 5 in any category is a server-wide event. When you cross the Grandmaster threshold, Imperium broadcasts to every online player: "GRANDMASTER! <player> has achieved Grandmaster in <category>!" The tier-5 reward also fires a console command (a celebratory broadcast line) so the moment is logged for anyone who misses the live announcement.

Grandmaster is per-category, not global. There is no "Grandmaster of Everything" title — but completing all fifteen categories is a self-set endgame goal that only a handful of citizens will ever reach.

The Mastery Board GUI

Run /mastery to open the Mastery Board, a 54-slot GUI that lays out all fifteen categories at a glance. Each category icon shows your current tier, your raw progress number, the next tier's threshold, and a progress bar with a percentage. Categories you have Grandmastered show a gold ✔ GRANDMASTER tag. Click any category to drill into a detail view listing all five tiers, their thresholds, and whether you have unlocked each one.

The top of the board also shows a summary: categories completed out of 15 — your overall mastery scorecard. This is the number long-time players chase.

Category Mastery — A Second Track

Alongside the stat-based mastery ladder, there is a separate Category Mastery track tied to your pickaxe enchants. Each of the 22 enchant categories (Luck, Denarius, Auctoritas, Civitas, Explosions, Lightning, and so on) has a set of enchants. Max every enchant in a category and you complete that category, unlocking a unique themed reward — typically an exclusive pet, a pickaxe skin, or a special mine unlock.

Track your enchant-category progress with /mastery progress, which prints a chat bar for each category showing how many of its enchants you have maxed. Completed categories show a green ✔ COMPLETED tag. Run /mastery completed to see only the ones you have finished, and /mastery rewards to browse the full list of category-completion rewards.

Category-mastery rewards are powerful and exclusive: the Lucky Rabbit Pet (+2% money per block), the Fortune Mine (2x block values), the Ultimate Skin (all pickaxe effects), the Endgame Spirit Pet (+5% all), and more. They are the payoff for going deep on enchants rather than wide.

How Progress Is Saved

Mastery stats persist in a database table (player_mastery) keyed by your UUID and category. A background task flushes every online player's state every minute, and your state is saved again when you log out. This means mastery progress survives restarts, world changes, and even long absences — your numbers are never wiped.

Because the save uses an UPSERT (insert-on-conflict-update), your progress is atomic per category: you never lose partial progress to a crash, and the achieved-tier counter only ever moves up.

Tips

  1. Open /mastery regularly. The GUI is the fastest way to see which category is closest to its next tier, so you can focus your play.
  2. Mining is the easiest first Grandmaster. At 5M blocks for Tier 5, a dedicated miner hits it well before the economy or prestige ladders.
  3. Prestige counts twice. Every prestige advances both the Prestige category and the Endgame category, so prestiging is doubly good for mastery.
  4. Stack the passive bonuses. The permanent multipliers from mastery stack with prestige multipliers, boosters, pets, and legion upgrades — chase them early for a compounding edge.
  5. Use boosters during a push. A money or token booster accelerates the Economy and Auctoritas categories directly, since those track raw currency earned.
  6. Category Mastery rewards are worth maxing for. The Ultimate Skin and Endgame Spirit Pet are among the strongest items in the game and only come from completing enchant categories.
  7. Watch the leaderboard appearances. The Social category ticks up whenever you appear on a leaderboard, so ranking high in mining, voting, or PvP passively feeds your Social mastery.
