Pets

Companions that follow you and grant real bonuses — money, tokens, Civitas, crate luck, and more.

Pets are companions that follow you through the mines and grant a passive bonus while active. Unlike pure cosmetics, every pet has a real gameplay effect — extra money per block, passive tokens, crate luck, PvP bonuses, and more. You can own many pets but only one is active at a time. Level them up to magnify their effect.

What Pets Do

A pet grants its effect while it is your active pet (set via /pet). Most effects fire as you mine blocks in a mine world; a few (passive token generation, sell price, crate luck, enchant proc, PvP money) are queried on demand by the system that needs them. Pets are persistent across login, death, and respawn — your active pet re-summons automatically.

Visually, your active pet spawns as a small marker wearing its emblem as a helmet, trailing just behind you. It is invulnerable, marker-tagged, and excluded from combat — purely a visual cue that your bonus is live.

Effect Types

Pets are defined entirely in pets.yml, so the catalog grows over time. Every pet maps to one of these effect archetypes:

Effect TypeWhat it does
Money PercentA flat bonus to Denarius earned per block mined (e.g. +5% money).
All Currency PercentA bonus to every currency at once — Denarius, Auctoritas, and Civitas.
Dual PercentTwo bonuses combined, usually money + tokens (e.g. Legionary Eagle: +3% money, +2% Auctoritas).
Combo MoneyEach consecutive block mined within 60s adds a stacking % bonus, capped (e.g. Combo Dragon caps at +50%).
Random Money BurstEvery N blocks, triggers a random multiplier burst (e.g. Chaos Monkey: 2-5× every 50 blocks).
Token BurstEvery N blocks, dumps a chunk of bonus Auctoritas (e.g. Thunder Bird: +25 tokens every 100 blocks).
Civitas BurstEvery N blocks, grants bonus Civitas (e.g. Crystal Spider: +1 Civitas every 20 blocks).
Timed All PercentAfter a continuous mining session threshold, all income gains a bonus (e.g. Phoenix: +15% after 10 minutes).
Token PassiveGenerates Auctoritas passively every minute while you are online — even while AFK.
Enchant Proc PercentIncreases your pickaxe's enchant proc rate (queried on demand by the enchant system).
PvP Money PercentA bonus to Denarius earned from PvP kills (queried by the combat system).
Crate Luck PercentIncreases your luck on crate opens — better odds on the rare tiers (queried by the crate system).
Sell Price PercentIncreases the price shops pay when you sell (queried by the shop).
Mining Speed & CurrencyIncreases mining speed plus a currency bonus.

How to Get Pets

SourceHow

Leveling Pets

Every active pet gains +1 XP per block mined in a mine world. Each level multiplies the pet's effect by +25% — a Level 10 Golden Goose gives a much bigger bonus than a Level 1 Golden Goose. The level multiplier formula is 1.0 + (level − 1) × 0.25.

The XP required to advance each level:

Level UpXP Required
1 → 2100
2 → 3250
3 → 4500
4 → 51,000
5 → 62,000
6 → 74,000
7 → 87,500
8 → 912,000
9 → 1020,000

The maximum pet level is 10. Reaching it on a rare or mythic pet is a serious long-term investment — pick a pet that matches your playstyle and stick with it.

The full menagerie spans Roman military animals (War Elephant, Cavalry Horse, Eagle Scout), mythological beasts (Griffin, Hydra, Chimera, Kraken), historical figures' companions (Caesar's Horse, Cleopatra's Cat, Nero's Lyre Bird), and even sea creatures and insects sacred to the gods. Each one is named and themed for the world of Rome.

Equipping & Managing

  1. Type /pet to open the pet menu.
  2. Browse pets you have unlocked. Locked pets show their source.
  3. Click an owned pet to make it your active companion. The follower spawns behind you.
  4. Click the active pet (or use the unequip slot) to dismiss it.
  5. The same menu lets you view each pet's level and XP progress.

When you unlock your first pet, it is automatically equipped. After that, you choose which companion is active. Only one pet's effect applies at a time, so the decision matters.

Tips

  1. Match the pet to your loop. Mining for money? Golden Goose or Baby Dragon. AFK? Automaton Drone or Carrier Pigeon for passive tokens. Pushing crates? Oracle Serpent or Golden Scarab for luck.
  2. PvP pets only pay in the PVP Mine. Imperial Lion, Cerberus Pup, and Caligula's Stallion give bonuses only on PvP kills.
  3. Level one pet at a time. XP goes only to your active pet, so swapping constantly slows everyone down.
  4. Combo pets reward pace. Combo Dragon and Macedonian Hound want you mining quickly — pause for 60s and the combo resets.
  5. Pets stack with skills and gemmae. A maxed Golden Goose + Mercatura sell perks + a Gemma of Fortuna is how the richest citizens mine.
  6. Token Passive pets are the AFK engine. Equip one before you go offline — well, online-AFK — and the Auctoritas trickles in.

Pets are the single most impactful passive system in Imperium. A maxed mythic pet can more than double a specific income stream — pick the one that funds your next goal, whether that is a prestige, a crate binge, or a PvP killing spree.
