Skill Tree

Spend skill points from ranks and prestiges across three Roman perk branches — Virtus, Mercatura, Divinitas.

The Arbor Peritiarum — the Skill Tree — is Imperium's permanent perk system. Every rank you climb and every prestige you reset earns skill points you spend on three Roman branches of power: Virtus (the soldier), Mercatura (the merchant), and Divinitas (the divine). Points spent are forever — choose your path and become the citizen Rome needs.

The Three Branches

Each branch is a single linear chain of 15 perks, from a tier-1 root to a tier-15 capstone. A perk unlocks only when you can pay its cost and every perk above it in the chain is already unlocked. Effects escalate strictly as you climb.

BranchThemeWhat it boosts
Virtus (Military)Combat prowess, battlefield discipline, and martial might.PvP damage, damage reduction, knockback resistance, lifesteal
Mercatura (Commerce)Trade acumen, market mastery, and financial dominance.Sell price, tax reduction, marketplace fees, token gain
Divinitas (Divine)Divine favor, blessings of the gods, and providence.XP gain, enchant proc, rare drops, crystal drops, luck

Earning Skill Points

Points are not a grindable currency — they are earned from your overall progression, so you never have to worry about losing them in a rebalance.

  • +1 point per rank. Climbing from Rank I to Rank X is +10 points.
  • +5 points per prestige. Reaching Prestige 5 grants +25 more.

Your available points are computed as earned − spent, where spent is the sum of the costs of every perk you have unlocked. Because earned points come straight from your rank and prestige, the system stays accurate even if those numbers change.

A player who reaches Rank 100, Prestige 25 has earned 225 skill points — enough to fully capstone one branch and most of a second. You will not unlock every perk; the tree is built to force meaningful choices.

Virtus — Military (Combat)

Virtus is the path of the legionary. Every perk increases your PvP damage, reduces the damage you take, or both. Higher tiers add max health, knockback resistance, lifesteal, and even an aura that buffs nearby allies. The capstone, Mars Chosen, doubles your PvP damage and makes you immune to fall damage.

Mercatura — Commerce (Economy)

Mercatura is the path of the merchant. Perks increase your sell price at shops, cut marketplace fees, reduce the wealth tax, and boost your token gain. The capstone, Aureus Imperator, doubles your sell price, removes sales tax entirely, and slashes marketplace fees by 75%.

Divinitas — Divine (Favor)

Divinitas is the path of the blessed. Perks increase your XP gain, enchant proc chance, rare-drop chance, crystal drop chance, and luck. Mid-tier perks grant stacking bonuses to every proc-based effect on your pickaxe. The capstone, Numen Supremum, doubles your XP gain, adds +30% to all proc chances, and grants immunity to wither.

Choosing Your Path

With 225 points at the absolute ceiling and 45 total perks costing well over 200 points each to fully capstone, you will specialize. The three archetypes map cleanly to playstyles:

  • The PvPer goes deep into Virtus for raw combat dominance. Pair with a PvP-money pet like Caligula's Stallion or Cerberus Pup for the richest PVP Mine runs.
  • The Industrialist maxes Mercatura for the best sell prices and lowest fees. Every block mined and every auction listing earns more.
  • The Enchanter climbs Divinitas for the highest enchant proc rates and rarest drops, supercharging a pickaxe loaded with proc enchants.

Tips

  1. Perks are permanent. Points spent are never refunded. Plan your chain before clicking.
  2. Check /skills info often. It shows your exact point balance and every unlocked perk.
  3. Prestige accelerates the tree. Each prestige is +5 points, so a prestige run is also a skill-point run.
  4. Effects stack with pets and gemmae. A Divinitas enchant-proc perk plus a Sibyl's Owl pet plus a Gemma of Minerva is a triple-stacked proc engine.
  5. One active chain per branch. You must unlock each perk in order — you cannot skip ahead to a capstone.

The Arbor Peritiarum is your long-term character build. While ranks and prestiges reset on a prestige, your skill tree carries the identity of your citizen across every cycle — pick the branch that matches how you want to play Rome.
