Economy
Four currencies — Denarius, Auctoritas, Civitas, Aureus — plus the bank, trades, and taxes.
Imperium has four currencies. Each one is earned a different way and spent on different things. This page explains them all in simple terms.
The 4 Currencies
| Currency | Symbol | Color | Earned by | Spent on |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Denarius | ◈ | Green | Mining and selling blocks | Ranking up, the shop, bank |
| Auctoritas | ⛁ | Orange | Mining (drops automatically) | Pickaxe enchants |
| Civitas | ⚡ | Red | Mining + Legion activity | Legions (guilds) and legion upgrades |
| Aureus | ✦ | Pink | Voting, crates, store | Premium items, rank skips |
Denarius (the main money)
- This is the money you use to rank up.
- You earn it by mining blocks and running
/sellall. - Every new player starts with 1,000 Denarius.
- Higher ranks and prestige give you a multiplier, so you earn more per block as you progress.
Auctoritas (tokens)
- Used to buy pickaxe enchants.
- Drops automatically while you mine — you do not have to pick anything up.
- Buy enchants like Denarius Boost and Auctoritas Boost to earn them faster.
Civitas (beacons)
- The guild currency. Used to create and upgrade Legions.
- Earned by mining. Your Legion also collects Civitas based on its members' activity.
- Top legions each week win Aureus payouts.
Aureus (premium)
- The premium currency. You cannot mine for it.
- Earned by voting every day, winning vote top monthly, opening crates, or buying from the store.
- Spent on rank skips (
/rankskip), premium cosmetics, and other high-value items.
You can see all four balances on your scoreboard (right side of screen), or type /balance.
How to Earn Money
The core loop never changes:
- Mine blocks at a public mine (
/mines). - Sell them with
/sellall(or turn on auto-sell). - Use enchants to multiply your earnings.
- Keep your mining streak high — it adds up to +20% income.
- Join a Legion for permanent boosters.
- Vote daily for free Denarius, tokens, and crate keys.
Banknotes: /withdraw and /redeem
You can turn your digital money into a physical paper banknote you can trade, gift, or sell to other players.
Withdraw (create a banknote)
- Type
/withdraw <amount>to pull Denarius out of your balance as a paper note. - The note shows the amount and which currency it holds.
- Max per note: 1,000,000 Denarius (or 1,000,000 tokens, 50,000 Civitas, 25,000 Aureus).
Redeem (cash a banknote in)
- Right-click the banknote while holding it to deposit the money back into your balance.
- You can also use
/redeem.
Why use banknotes?
- Trading. Drop a banknote to pay another player safely.
- Storage. Keep wealth as items in your vault.
- Gifts. Give money to friends.
Banknotes expire after 24 hours if not redeemed. Do not hold them too long.
The Bank: /bank
The bank lets you store, withdraw, and borrow Denarius. Type /bank to open the bank menu.
Deposit
Move Denarius from your balance into the bank for safekeeping.
Withdraw
Take Denarius back out of the bank.
Loan
- Borrow Denarius from the bank and pay it back later (with interest).
- Useful when you are close to a rank-up but a few thousand short.
- Loans have a credit system — borrow responsibly or you may be blocked from future loans.
/pay — Transfer to Another Player
Send money directly to another player.
/pay <player> <amount> — for example, /pay Caesar 500 sends 500 Denarius to the player named Caesar.
- Minimum: 1 Denarius.
- Maximum: 1,000,000 per transfer.
- There is a small transfer tax (3%) that is destroyed on each transfer. This keeps the economy healthy — so if you send 100, the other player receives 97.
Taxes (How They Work)
To keep the economy balanced over the long run, there is a wealth tax on large balances.
- Only balances of 100,000 Denarius or more are taxed. If you have less, you pay zero tax.
- Tax is assessed once per hour.
- The rate is progressive and adjusts automatically based on the server economy.
- Donors with the tax-exempt permission pay nothing.
Taxes only affect players who have built up large fortunes — new and casual players are completely protected.
The Broader Money Ecosystem
Mining is the engine of the economy, but Denarius flows through a whole ecosystem of systems. Each one is a tool for moving money around safely or multiplying it:
| System | What it is for | Deep dive |
|---|---|---|
| Auction House (/ah) | List items for sale to the whole server asynchronously. | Read more |
| Player Trading (/trade) | Safe two-confirmation swaps of items and money. | Read more |
| Casino | Wager Denarius on coinflip, crash, and roulette. | Read more |
| Boosters | Stack temporary multipliers on money, tokens, XP, and Civitas. | Read more |
| Bank & Banknotes | Store Denarius, withdraw physical notes, take loans. | Read more |
| Vault (/vault) | Portable shared item storage that travels with you. | Read more |
Auction House and Player Trading
Beyond /pay, there are two main ways to move value between players:
Auction House (/ah)
The server-wide marketplace. List an item, set a price, and anyone can buy it. Best for asynchronous selling — you list and walk away. A small listing fee and sale tax apply. See the Auction House article.
Player Trading (/trade)
Face-to-face swaps using a secure two-confirmation window. Best for trading items plus money together with a specific player. No item-loss risk if you re-check the window before the final confirm. See the Player Trading article.
The Casino
For the thrill-seekers, the casino lets you wager Denarius on coinflip (50/50), crash (cash out before the multiplier crashes), and roulette (classic wheel bets). Every game has a house edge, so treat it as entertainment — over thousands of bets the casino always wins. Set a budget, use fixed bet sizes, and walk away while ahead.
Boosters: Multiplying Your Income
Boosters are temporary multipliers (money, tokens, XP, Civitas) that stack on top of your rank and prestige bonuses. Personal boosters apply only to you; server boosters (often bought from the store) apply to everyone online. Stack a personal Money Booster with an active server Money Booster and your mining income briefly multiplies several times over.
The Vault: Portable Item Storage
The /vault (alias /pv, for "player vaults") is your portable shared inventory. Unlike the Sarcina (mining-only) or a cell (fixed in place), the vault travels with you across sessions and worlds.
- Store backup gear, valuables, and loot you want to keep.
- Multiple pages, unlocked by rank and donor tier.
- Accessible from anywhere with
/vault. - Items inside are safe on death.
Pair the vault with the bank for full financial security: banknotes for wealth, vault for items, Sarcina for blocks.
