Marry another citizen for a mining fortune bonus, /marry home, /marry heal, and private spouse chat.
Conubium — marriage in the eyes of Rome — is Imperium's social-bond system with a real gameplay payoff. Marry another citizen and, as long as you stay close to each other, you both mine with a permanent fortune bonus. The system is built around togetherness: nearly every perk requires you and your spouse to be near one another, so marriage rewards players who actually play together rather than just sharing a title.
The Proposal & Wedding
Marriage is a two-step, opt-in flow. There are no forced weddings and no instant marriages — both players have to agree.
- Find an online player you want to marry and run
/marry <player>. - If you are not already married (and neither are they), a proposal is sent.
- The target gets a gold prompt: "<you> has proposed marriage! Type /marry accept to accept."
- They run
/marry acceptand the wedding is sealed. - The whole server is broadcast: "<player1> and <player2> are now married in the eyes of Rome!"
You cannot marry yourself, you cannot marry someone who is already married, and you cannot propose while married yourself. Use /divorce first if you want to remarry. Proposals also expire if either player logs out before acceptance.
The Fortune Bonus — Mine Better Together
The headline marriage perk is a mining fortune bonus. When you and your spouse are both online, in the same world, and within 30 blocks of each other, both of you mine with a bonus to fortune. This is checked passively on every block break, so it applies automatically — no command, no toggle, no cooldown.
The bonus is intentionally modest and stacks with your other multipliers (prestige, enchants, boosters, pets). It exists to make co-mining genuinely better than solo mining, giving couples a reason to set up side by side in the same mine.
The proximity check is real and enforced. Wander off to sell at spawn, head to a different mine, or hop worlds and the bonus silently turns off. Stay together and it stays on. There is no partial bonus — you are either within range or you are not.
Spouse Perks — Home, Message, Heal
Beyond the fortune bonus, married players get three convenience commands that make playing together frictionless.

/marry home — teleport to your spouse
A free, instant teleport to wherever your spouse is standing. Both players must be online. This is the easiest way to regroup after a death, meet up at a new mine, or reconvene after selling — no /tpa request, no wait, no cost.
/marry msg — private spousal chat
Send a message only your spouse can see. It renders with a pink heart prefix and works regardless of where either of you are. Use it to coordinate without spamming public chat or discord. (For offline messages, use /mail — spouse messages do not forward.)
/marry heal — restore hearts together
Restore 4 hearts of health instantly — but only when your spouse is within the 30-block proximity range, same as the fortune bonus. This keeps it a togetherness perk rather than a self-heal exploit. It is rate-limited to once per 60 seconds per player, and plays a level-up chime on use.
Divorce
Marriages are not permanent. Run /marry divorce at any time to end your marriage. The other player is notified that you have divorced them, your fortune bonus and perk access end immediately, and a 24-hour cooldown applies before you can remarry.
Divorce is one-sided — you do not need your spouse's consent or even for them to be online. Your marriage record persists in the database (marked as divorced with a timestamp) for the server's history, but functionally you are single again.
Think before you divorce. Because remarrying is on a 24-hour cooldown, a rash divorce can lock you out of the fortune bonus for a full day. The bonus only kicks in once you are married and near your new spouse.
Persistence & Reliability
Marriage is fully database-backed. Your marriage survives logouts, server restarts, and long absences — when you next log in, your spouse is still your spouse. The system caches your marriage in memory on join (so the per-block fortune check stays instant and lag-free) and writes through to the database on every marry and divorce.
This caching matters: the fortune bonus is checked on every single block breakfor married players, so the lookup has to be fast. By caching, Imperium keeps the bonus effectively free on TPS even for the most active mining couples.
Tips
- Co-mine for the fortune bonus. Set up side by side in the same mine — 30 blocks is generous, so you do not need to be on top of each other.
- Use /marry home as a free teleport. It is faster than /tpa and costs nothing, perfect for regrouping after a PvP death or a trip to spawn.
- Save /marry heal for emergencies. With a 60-second cooldown, it is best saved for after a PvP skirmish or a fall, not spammed during mining.
- Marry a miner with a complementary schedule. The bonus only works when you are both online and near each other, so pair up with someone who plays when you do.
- Stack the fortune bonus with a booster. A money or token booster plus the spousal fortune bonus plus a pet multiplier can push your effective yield significantly higher.
- Coordinate with /marry msg. It cuts through noisy public chat and keeps your strategy private — useful in the PVP Mine or during a legion raid.
- Divorce is final and cooldown-gated. Do not use it impulsively; the 24-hour lockout can cost you a day of fortune bonus if you change your mind.
