Enchant Strategy
Build recommendations for every game phase — early/mid/late pickaxe enchants plus currency farming strategies.
Imperium ships with 252 Roman-themed pickaxe enchants across 22 categories, plus a separate combat-enchants system for PvP gear. With that many options, the question is never "what enchants exist?" — it's "which ones do I buy, in what order, with limited Auctoritas?" This guide is the answer. It's the strategy companion to the Enchants reference and Enchant Books pages, focused entirely on build craft and currency strategy.
The Three Eternal Trade-offs
Every enchant decision trades off against three things:
| Trade-off | Question | Default answer |
|---|---|---|
| Money vs Tokens | Do I need Denarius (for rank-up) or Auctoritas (for more enchants)? | Tokens early (they fund everything), money mid (rank-ups get expensive), tokens late again (Sarcina). |
| Passive vs Proc | Reliable +X% per block vs chance-based spikes? | Passive for steady income, proc for excitement + screenshots. |
| Now vs Later | Cheap Lv 1 enchant now vs save for the Lv 25 prestige-gated one? | Buy cheap early — enchants are cumulative, not exclusive. You don't lose a slot by buying early. |
The Five Recommended Builds
Pick one build and stick with it for at least a prestige cycle. Builds are expressed as the core enchants to prioritize — most builds also layer utility enchants (Haste, Jump Boost) on top.
| Build | Focus | Core enchants | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pure Money Printer | Maximize Denarius per block | money_boost, fortune, money_multiplier, payday, tax_collector, compound_interest | No token enchants — buy tokens from /ah when needed. Best for rank-up grind. |
| Token Engine | Maximize Auctoritas for Sarcina + enchants | token_boost (maxed), token_siphon, combo, token_frenzy | Use frenzy windows for big Sarcina upgrades. Slow money but huge token throughput. |
| Balanced Grinder | Steady income across all currencies | money_boost, token_boost, fortune, beacon_boost, critical_strike | The default recommendation. Good at everything, great at nothing. |
| Jackpot Gambler | High-variance procs for big spikes | wealth, bank_heist, critical_strike, token_frenzy | Inconsistent income but the screenshots are legendary. Pairs with contraband trading. |
| Marathon Miner | Long-session stacking bonuses | compound_interest, combo, payday, mining streak maintenance | Built for 4+ hour sessions. Don't let streaks reset — keep a mining pace > 1 block/sec. |
Early-Game Build (Rank 1–25, Prestige 0)
The first few hours are about getting the income engine running. Every enchant here is unlock-rank 1 and unlock-prestige 0 — buy them the moment you can.
| Slot | Enchant | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Pickaxe 1 | Auctoritas Boosttoken_boost | Cheapest token enchant (500 base, ×1.1 scaling). Funds all your other enchants. |
| Pickaxe 2 | Fortuna's Favorfortune | +0.02% per level — flat money multiplier that compounds with rank bonuses. Cheap base (500). |
| Pickaxe 3 | Denarius Boostmoney_boost | +5% per level passive money. The workhorse of early-game income. |
| Pickaxe 4 | Auctoritas Boost (push to Lv 50+)token_boost | At +0.05 ⛁/level, this is the engine that pays for everything else. |
| Pickaxe 5 | Denarius Multipliermoney_multiplier | +1% per level, scalable to 1000. Best long-tail money grind. |
Push Auctoritas Boost first. At 500 base cost with ×1.1 scaling, taking it to Lv 50 (+2.5 ⛁/break) costs under 500K tokens total and dramatically accelerates every later enchant purchase.
Mid-Game Build (Rank 25–60, Prestige 1–5)
Once core passives are at Lv 25+, layer in the proc enchants. These have higher unlock requirements but their effects stack on top of your passive income.
| Slot | Enchant | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Add to pickaxe | Centurion's Combocombo | Proc-based +5% Auctoritas per consecutive break. Pairs with mining streaks. |
| Add to pickaxe | Gladiator's Strikecritical_strike | 1% per level to triple a block sell. Massive spike income at Lv 25+. |
| Add to pickaxe | Civitas Boostbeacon_boost | Beacon income for legion upgrades — legion power indirectly boosts you. |
| Consider | Opulentia's Blessingwealth | 0.005%/level to pay 10× block value. Long-tail jackpot enchant. |
| Situational | Auctoritas Frenzytoken_frenzy | Rare proc that opens a 60-second 2× token window. Save it for boost-stacked sessions. |
Late-Game Build (Rank 60+, Prestige 6+)
The endgame enchants are prestige-gated (typically unlock-prestige 6–8) and have base costs of 25K–100K tokens. They're the multipliers that make 6-digit Denarius sells possible.
| Slot | Enchant | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Endgame pickaxe | Usurer's Compoundcompound_interest | +2% per level stacking on consecutive breaks, up to 5×. Reset after 60s idle. Theoretically the strongest money multiplier. |
| Endgame pickaxe | Legion's Stipendpayday | Every 10K blocks: 10% of last receipt × level as a lump bonus. Incredible for marathon mining. |
| Endgame pickaxe | Publican's Levytax_collector | Earns money per online player per break (up to 10 players). Passive income scaling with server population. |
| Jackpot slot | Raid on the Aerariumbank_heist | 0.0001%/level × 60× last receipt = lottery-tier payout. The dream. |
| Token engine | Auctoritas Siphontoken_siphon | Converts 1% of last receipt money into tokens. Pays for prestige-token sinks. |
Mining-Speed vs Economy vs Utility
Pickaxe enchants roughly divide into three buckets. A balanced build has at least one from each.
| Bucket | Goal | Best enchants |
|---|---|---|
| Mining speed | Break more blocks per minute | efficiency (vanilla), haste_aura, token_drill, mass_detonate ability, super_breaker ability |
| Economy | More value per block | money_boost, fortune, money_multiplier, wealth, critical_strike, compound_interest |
| Utility | Quality of life, traversal, survival | haste, jump_boost, speed, night_vision, fire_resistance |
Mining speed is multiplicative with economy — doubling your blocks-per-minute doubles your income from economy enchants. But the speed cap (server tick rate + haste stacking) limits returns past a certain point, so don't over-invest in speed at the expense of economy.
Currency Farming Strategies for Enchants
Auctoritas is the bottleneck. Every strategy below feeds either direct token income or the Denarius to buy books from other players.
| Strategy | Detail |
|---|---|
| Voting streaks | Free crate keys → enchanted books. /vote every day for the monthly Vote Top Aureus payout. |
| Contraband arbitrage | Buy Garum/Wine/Silk low at spawn, sell high at mines. Pure Denarius for enchant purchases. |
| Casino wins | Coinflip doubles or roulette 35× — high variance but the fastest legitimate path to a 5M-token book. |
| Crates | Common→Godly crates can drop enchant books directly. Save keys for Godly during festival weekends. |
| Enchant book fusing | Combine two same-level books for +1 (Denarius cost + failure risk). Cheap path to Lv 5+ on core enchants. |
| Sarcina multiplier farming | Push Sarcina Multiplier to Lv 10 (+10%) before going hard on enchants — it amplifies every gold-side purchase. |
| PVP Mine (cautiously) | 2× block values + token rate. Mine with empty balance + vault-stashed banknotes for max safety. |
| Auction House flips | Buy underpriced books from impatient sellers, sell to lazy buyers. Pure economy play. |
Enchant Categories — Where to Look
The full enchants.yml groups enchants into 22 categories. The most relevant for build craft:
| Category | Purpose |
|---|---|
| DENARIUS | Money income — the heart of any money build |
| AUCTORITAS | Token income — funds future enchants |
| CIVITAS | Beacon income — for legion upgrades |
| MULTIPLIERS | Crit, compound interest, multiplier stacking |
| UTILITY | Potion effects, movement, quality of life |
| PRESTIGE | Prestige-gated enchants — the late-game outliers |
| ULTIMATE | The most powerful enchants in the game, all heavily gated |
| ENDGAME | Similar to ULTIMATE — collected, expensive, transformative |
| EXPLOSIONS / LASERS / LIGHTNING | Mass-break abilities — mining speed on steroids |
The remaining categories (CHAOS, COSMIC, DIMENSIONAL, ENERGY, LUCK, OPENCHANTS, SYNERGY) are themed sets with their own progression lines — explore them once your core build is solid.
Proc Chances — How to Read Them
In enchants.yml, the proc-chance field has three meanings:
1.0— fires on every block break. Pure passive, scaled by level.- A specific value (e.g.
0.05) — flat 5% chance per break, not scaled by level. Level affects the effect, not the proc rate. -1— uses the implementation'sgetProcChance(level), meaning the proc chance itself scales with level. The description usually shows the formula (e.g. "0.005% per level").
For -1 enchants, the description's "per level" rate is the source of truth — multiply by your enchant level to get the actual proc chance. A Lv 50 wealth enchant at 0.005%/level = 0.25% per block.
Cost Scaling — Why Level 50 Costs What It Costs
Most enchants use EXPONENTIAL cost scaling with a per-enchant multiplier (the cost-multiplier field). The cumulative cost to reach level N is approximately:
total(N) ≈ base_cost × (multiplier^N - 1) / (multiplier - 1)
| Enchant | Base | Multiplier | Cost to Lv 25 (approx) |
|---|---|---|---|
| token_boost | 500 | ×1.1 | ~54,200 |
| fortune | 500 | ×1.1 | ~54,200 |
| money_boost | 5,000 | ×1.5 | ~2.5 M |
| money_multiplier | 10,000 | ×1.5 | ~5.0 M |
| critical_strike | 25,000 | ×1.8 | ~46.6 M |
| wealth | 1,000 | ×1.2 | ~370 K |
| bank_heist | 100,000 | ×2.0 | ~6.7 B |
The lesson: the multiplier matters more than the base. token_boost at Lv 50 is cheaper than bank_heist at Lv 5. Plan your build around the multipliers you can afford.
Tips From the Top of the Leaderboard
- Don't prestige-reset an enchant without a plan. Some enchants carry over with prestige; others reset. Check before you prestige.
- Save your enchant books. Low-level books from crates are fuse fodder — combine two Lv 1 books to get Lv 2, etc. See Enchant Books.
- Pair enchants with the right ability. Mass Detonate procs every block-break enchant for every block it clears — a +5% money enchant with MD is +500% income during the ability window.
- Time your sessions to boosters. A 2× money booster + critical_strike proc on a high-value ore is the best Denarius/hr in the game. Stack with a personal booster during server-wide boost hours.
- Use the Mining Summary to test. The 60-second Sarcina summary shows Enchant income separately from Mine income. If it's near zero, your build isn't firing — check proc rates and equip order.
Free enchant books from voting: the per-vote reward table includes enchant books at certain milestones. /vote daily for a steady trickle of fuse fodder — see Voting.
