Prestige
Bank permanent multipliers and open the eras of Rome — P1 The Founders to P8 The Aurea Aeterna.
Prestige is Imperium's endgame progression loop. When you reach Rank 100, you can prestige to bank permanent bonuses that make every future hour faster, richer, and stronger. The ladder is authored to 25 prestige titles with 8 tiers active live - and each prestige opens a new era of Rome in your personal saga, from the Founders to the Golden Age.
Prestige no longer resets your rank (changed 2026-08-15 to the season model). You keep Rank 100 and everything you have unlocked - what resets is your Denarius, Auctoritas, and Civitas balances (Aureus is kept). Prestige is a wager of your wallet, not your progress.
The Prestige Loop
- Mine and sell to climb from Rank 1 to Rank 100.
- Meet the prestige requirements (Denarius, tokens, playtime).
- Type
/prestige- the cost is consumed and your balances reset. - Your prestige level goes up by one and permanent bonuses kick in immediately.
- A new era opens - the Chronicle records it and the era cutscene plays.
- Repeat up to Prestige 8 (the live cap).
Your rank, pickaxe, enchants, cosmetics, and Aureus are all kept. The next run starts at Rank 100 with every mine still open - the multipliers simply stack on top.
Requirements to Prestige
Type /prestige any time to see exactly what you still need. The requirements scale up with each prestige level:
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Rank 100 | You must be at the top rank before the prestige option unlocks. |
| Denarius cost | Scales sharply: 1M × 1.8^(P−1) at prestige P — 1M for the first, ~43M by the eighth. |
| Auctoritas cost | 100K × 2^(P−1) — meaningful but achievable for an active Rank 100. |
| Playtime | One extra hour of total playtime per prestige level, so prestiging reflects real commitment. |
There is no Aureus requirement - premium currency is store/donor only and stays in your wallet. The Denarius curve is the main bottleneck, which is the point: prestige prices in your mining output, not your credit card.
What Prestige Gives You
Every prestige level grants the following permanent bonuses, all of which stack on top of your rank and enchant multipliers:
| Bonus | Per prestige | At Prestige 8 (live cap) |
|---|---|---|
| Money multiplier | +10% per prestige | +80% Denarius |
| Sell multiplier | +6% per prestige | +48% sell value |
| Token multiplier | +8% per prestige | +64% Auctoritas |
| Mining multiplier | +5% per prestige | +40% mining speed |
| XP multiplier | +2% per prestige | +16% all XP |
| Enchant slots | +2 slots per prestige | +16 slots on top of the 20-slot base |
| Potion effects | Haste (up to III), Speed (up to II), Night Vision; Jump Boost at P5+ | Always-on buff kit |
The enchant slot bonus is the single most impactful: each prestige adds two more enchant slots on top of the 20-slot base (rank milestones and donor tiers add more still), and enchants multiply each other. A fully-stacked pickaxe can run 40+ distinct enchants of the 177-enchant catalog.
The Eras of Rome
Since the 2026-08-24 era system, every prestige opens a named era in your saga. The era plays an opening cutscene, gates era-themed NPCs and content, and is written into your Chronicle forever:
| Prestige | Era |
|---|---|
| 1 | The Founders |
| 2 | The Republic |
| 3 | The Conquest |
| 4 | The Caesars |
| 5 | The Pax Romana |
| 6 | The Crisis |
| 7 | The Dominate |
| 8 | The Aurea Aeterna (The Golden Age) |
Before your first prestige you live in the founding era of your own story; each prestige moves Rome one age forward, and the ending your saga eventually takes is shaped along the way.
Prestige Titles
Each prestige level grants a unique Roman title shown next to your name in chat. Here are the milestone titles:
| Prestige | Title |
|---|---|
| 1 | Primus Inter Pares ("First Among Equals") |
| 2 | Restitutor ("Restorer") |
| 3 | Restitutor Orbis ("Restorer of the World") |
| 5 | Conditor ("Founder") |
| 10 | Aeternus Augustus ("Eternal Emperor") |
| 15 | Triumphalis Maximus |
| 20 | Excelsus |
| 25 | Summus Deus - The Eternal (maximum prestige) |
The titles between milestones exist too - open /prestige to see the full ladder in-game.
The ladder is authored to 25 titles (Summus Deus at the top), but only Prestige 1-8 are active live - Totius Orbis Dominus is the highest era-reachable title today, and each active tier also opens its era (see above). The higher tiers are waiting for the saga to reach them.
Prestige Rewards
Reaching major prestige levels grants bonus one-time rewards:
| Prestige | Reward |
|---|---|
| 1 | +100 Civitas |
| 5 | +1,000 Civitas + a random pet |
| 10 | +5,000 Civitas + 1 Aureus |
| 15 | +10,000 Civitas + 2 Aureus |
| 20 | +25,000 Civitas + 3 Aureus |
| 25 | +100,000 Civitas + 10 Aureus + server-wide announcement |
The Prestige 25 payout includes a server-wide announcement - the whole community sees that you have completed the cursus honorum.
What You Keep and What Resets
| Thing | On prestige |
|---|---|
| Rank | Kept. You stay Rank 100 - no re-climb. |
| Denarius, Auctoritas, Civitas | Reset to zero (the prestige cost is the point). Sell and spend before you prestige. |
| Aureus | Kept - premium currency never resets. |
| Pickaxe, level, enchants | Kept entirely. |
| Cosmetics, pets, tags, capes | Kept. |
| Legion and legion upgrades | Kept. |
| Vault and cell contents | Kept - stash your banknotes there before resetting your wallet. |
| Unlocked mines | Kept (rank is kept). |
Prestige vs /rankskip vs /rankup
Three different ways to move on the rank ladder. Know the difference:
| Path | Cost | Result |
|---|---|---|
/rankup (Denarius) | Mined Denarius only | Climb one rank at a time. Free, just slow. |
/rankskip (Aureus) | Premium currency | Instantly jump a single rank. Fast but uses Aureus. |
/prestige | Denarius + tokens + playtime | Keeps your rank, resets your balances, and grants permanent multipliers. The real long game. |
/rankskip is a single-rank shortcut using Aureus - useful for skipping a tedious rank, not for replacing prestige. Prestige is the only path that grants the permanent multipliers that define endgame power.
When to Prestige
- Sell and spend first. Your Denarius, Auctoritas, and Civitas reset to zero on prestige - empty the Sarcina, buy the enchants, then prestige.
- Bank loose banknotes. Physical notes in your vault survive; purse cash does not.
- Once you meet the requirements, there is no reason to wait. The bonuses apply to your very next block.
Don't fear the reset. Your rank, pickaxe, enchants, and multipliers all carry over - prestige is the snowball, not the sled back down the hill.
The Long Game
Imperium is designed to take real time to fully complete:
| Goal | Realistic time for an active player |
|---|---|
| Rank 1 → 100 (first time) | A long season of consistent mining |
| Prestige 1 (first era) | The first big milestone past Rank 100 |
| Prestige 8 (The Aurea Aeterna, live cap) | The current summit of the era ladder |
| Prestige 9-25 | Authored and waiting - the saga will open them in time |
Do not rush. Mine, sell, prestige, open the next era - and enjoy the climb from prisoner to god-emperor.
