Roman Factions
Earn reputation with five Roman factions — each tier unlocks unique perks, discounts, and quests.
Roman Factions are five lore-themed power blocs you can build reputation with independent of your legion membership. Each faction has its own identity (a trade house, a senatorial bloc, a military legion, a religious cult, a plebeian guild), and each reputation tier you climb unlocks faction-specific perks — shop discounts, exclusive quest access, unique items, and titles. You can grind rep with all five factions at once; you don't have to pick one. It is a long-tail reputation system that gives veteran players another progression axis alongside ranks, prestiges, and skills.
The Five Factions
Factions are defined in factions.yml, each with a unique ID, display name, description, and a perk ladder. The default roster is themed around the political and economic blocs of Rome — a grain-trading merchant house, a senatorial patrician bloc, a legionary veterans' association, a temple priesthood, and a plebeian trade guild. Each one offers a different flavor of progression.
Factions are not mutually exclusive — you can hold high reputation with all five simultaneously. The design intent is to reward long-term play across every system, not to force a binding choice. Pick the factions whose perks fit your playstyle and grind those first.
Earning Reputation
Reputation is earned through faction-specific activities and quests:
- Faction quests. Each faction offers repeatable and one-time quests that pay reputation on completion.
- Activity alignment. Some factions reward generic activities aligned with their theme (mining for the plebeian guild, PvP for the legionary bloc, trading for the merchant house).
- Faction events. Special events tied to a faction grant rep to participants.
- Donations. Some factions accept item or currency donations in exchange for rep.
Reputation can also be lost — working against a faction's interests (killing their favored NPCs, supporting a rival in a faction conflict) can drop your standing.

Tips
- Start with the faction matching your playstyle. PvPers should hit the legionary bloc; miners the plebeian guild; traders the merchant house.
- Quests are the fastest rep. Faction quests pay far more rep than passive activity alignment — prioritize them.
- The shop discount compounds. A 10% discount on a faction vendor applies every transaction; for high-volume buyers, it adds up fast.
- Don't neglect the small factions. The less-popular factions often have less competition for event rewards.
- Watch for faction conflicts. During faction-vs-faction events, picking a side can boost one rep and cost another — choose deliberately.
