Player Trading
Safe face-to-face trades with a confirmation window — items, money, and tokens, no scams.
Trading lets you safely swap items, money, and tokens with another player face-to-face. It uses a two-confirmation window so neither side can scam the other — once both players have locked in and re-confirmed, the swap happens instantly. No dropping items on the ground, no "trust falls."
How to Start a Trade
- Stand near the player you want to trade with.
- Type
/trade <player>— for example,/trade Caesar. - The other player gets a request in chat. They type
/trade accept(or click the message). - The trade window opens for both of you.
Both players must be in the same world and reasonably close together. You cannot trade with someone on the other side of the map.
The Two-Confirmation Window
The trade window is split into two sides (yours and theirs). Each side has slots for items and fields for Denarius and tokens. The flow is designed so neither player can change the deal at the last second:
- Both players add their items and money. Each side can see exactly what the other is offering in real time.
- First confirmation. When you are happy, click your Ready button. This locks your side — you cannot add or remove anything after this without un-readying.
- Second confirmation. Once both sides are ready, a final Confirm button appears. Both players must click it for the trade to go through.
- The swap happens instantly. Items and currency move between inventories.
Always re-read the window before the final confirm. If the other player un-readies and removes an item, your ready status is cleared and you will have to re-confirm. This is the anti-scam protection — never click Confirm without checking the other side again.
What You Can Trade
| You can trade | Detail |
|---|---|
| Items & gear | Weapons, armor, tools, blocks, food — anything you can hold (except soulbound items). |
| Denarius | Add money from your balance into the trade window. |
| Auctoritas tokens | Trade tokens for enchants or services. |
| Banknotes | Physical /withdraw notes can be dropped into the window as items. |
| Enchant books | Trade extracted or fused enchant books to build up another player. |
| Crate keys & LootBoxes | Transfer keys or physical crates to a friend. |
What You Cannot Trade
| Cannot trade | Why |
|---|---|
| Prison pickaxe | Soulbound to you. Use /enchant extract to turn enchants into tradeable books instead. |
| Prestige and rank progress | Tied to your account. You can gift money toward a rank-up, but not the rank itself. |
| Cosmetics (mostly) | Most cosmetics are account-bound. Some event cosmetics may be tradeable — check the item. |
| Vault contents | Move items into your inventory first if you want to trade them. |
Trade vs /pay vs /ah
Imperium gives you three ways to move value between players. Pick the right one:
| Need | Use |
|---|---|
| Just send Denarius to someone | /pay <player> <amount> |
| Swap items and money together, face-to-face | /trade <player> |
| Sell an item to the whole server asynchronously | /ah sell <price> (see Auction House) |
Note: /pay has a small 3% transfer tax that is destroyed to keep the economy balanced. Trade itself does not tax item swaps, though the same logic applies to any Denarius added to the window.
Trading Etiquette
- Be clear about what you want. State your offer in chat before sending the request.
- Do not spam trade requests. One is enough; if they decline, respect it.
- Trade in a safe zone. Spawn (Rome) is PVP-free, so you cannot be killed mid-trade.
- Be patient with new players. Not everyone knows the two-confirm flow.
- Honor your deals. Backing out after agreeing in chat is a quick way to ruin your reputation.
Avoiding Scams
The two-confirmation window makes most scams impossible, but a few patterns still exist:
- The swap-and-confirm. A scammer puts in a good item, you ready, then they swap it for a fake and try to confirm fast. Defense: your ready status resets if they change anything, so always re-check before the final confirm.
- "Drop trade" requests. Anyone asking you to drop items on the ground instead of using
/tradeis trying to scam you. Always use the window. - Impersonators. Check the exact username in the trade window — do not trust chat alone.
- Too-good-to-be-true offers. If a deal seems impossibly generous, it probably is. Verify the item's enchant levels in the trade tooltip.
Staff take scam reports seriously, but the trade window is your first line of defense. If a trade feels wrong, cancel it. Report persistent scammers in Discord with screenshots.
